On September 22, 2024, at 7:00 PM, the Silesian Philharmonic Choir will inaugurate its 50th artistic season. The choir's first ever rehearsal took place exactly on September 2, 1974. The evening’s program will also commemorate this year’s significant anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner's birth, the 125th anniversary of Francis Poulenc's birth, and the 75th birthday of Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa. This concert will also launch a new series at the Silesian Philharmonic titled "Masterful Choir," featuring amateur ensembles from the Silesian Voivodeship, selected through a competition.
On September 22, the Silesian Philharmonic Choir will perform alongside the Risonanza Continua ensemble, prepared by Filip Białas. Under the direction of Jarosław Wolanin, they will jointly perform two songs from Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’s Church Songs: O matko miłościwa and Zawitaj Pani Świata.
The program will also include motets by Anton Bruckner, Francis Poulenc, and works by contemporary Italian composer Mariano Garau.
The concert will conclude with Dziewczyna by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa for oboe and 12-voice mixed choir, set to the words of Bolesław Leśmian. The oboe part will be performed by Anna Kudala.
