The New York concert of mezzo-soprano Roksana Wardenga and pianist Aleksandra Hałat at Scorca Hall in the America Opera Center on January 5, 2025, accompanies the project "Jerzy Fitelberg – Rediscovering," which promotes the forgotten works of Polish composers who worked in exile. Admission is free!
The concert will feature a song by Jerzy Fitelberg from 1921, discovered by Dr. Aleksandra Hałat, which was composed in Berlin. Also on the program are French-language works by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, songs by Andrzej Panufnik, Camille Saint-Saëns, Roman Ryterband, and Karol Rathaus.
An animation by Kaja Renkas and Iwona Pomianowska, titled Prelude, will also be presented, showcasing the work of composer Jerzy Fitelberg. The piece includes music from Fitelberg’s latest album Jerzy Fitelberg – Works for Violin and Piano, released by DUX, which features world premiere recordings of his works performed by Aleksandra Hałat and Marcin Hałat.
The concert will be preceded by a lecture by Dr. Aleksandra Hałat as part of the PAHA Conference, also taking place in New York. The pianist will talk about her research on Jerzy Fitelberg’s works and her contributions to promoting his legacy.
