13th National Promotional Festival "August of Talents", organized by the Institution for the Promotion and Dissemination of Music "Silesia" will be held in Katowice on 20-31 August 2019.
Seven concerts in the Concert Studio of Katowice Radio, the Archdiocesan Museum, the Silesian Library and the Franciscans Basilica will feature young virtuosos, chamber ensembles and orchestras.
The inauguration concert will give the opportunity to listen to 18-year-old violin virtuoso Michał Orlik, saxophonist Łukasz Dyczko – winner of the Eurovision for Young Musicians 2016, and flutist Marta Chlebicka – winner of the title "Young Musician of the Year 2018 ". The "Etno Ślōnsk" concert will mark the 100th anniversary of the Silesian Uprisings, with the Etnos Ensemble performing not only the arrangements of their favorite works, but also improvising on the themes of insurgent songs and Silesian folk melodies. The final concert in the Franciscnans Basilica will feature the 36-member Academic Orchestra of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice under the direction of Wojciech Wantulok.
The programme of the festival includes works of such well-known Polish artists as Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski, Karol Lipiński, Stanisław Moniuszko, Franciszek Mirecki, Karol Szymanowski, Witold Lutosławski, Roman Statkowski, Jan Skrzydlewski, Grażyna Bacewicz and Marcel Chyrzyński.
