On March 31, 2019 at 6.00 p.m. Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice invites you to a joint concert of the Silesian Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Robert Kabara and the Motion Trio.
An accordion trio was founded in 1996 by Janusz Wojtarowicz – leader and author of most of the compositions. They are a phenomenon on the European and global music market. Janusz Wojtarowicz, Paweł Baranek and Marcin Gałażyn are world class accordionists. Using all the advantages of the accordion in their creations, they continually explore the new possibilities of this instrument, changing the way that it is perceived. Their concerts are musical performances that contain action and drama.
During the March concert at the Silesian Philharmonic, the musicians will present motion music – defined by composer Janusz Wojtarowicz as music that incorporates new sounds by using new accordion techniques, thus providing a fresh look at the possibilities of this instrument. The programme will also incude Prelude in E minor, Op. 28 No. 4 by Fryderyk Chopin and Orawa by Wojciech Kilar in the version for three accordions, first performed in 2008 at the New York Carnegie Hall.
