A star of contemporary music – the American soprano Marisol Montalvo – will perform on May 6, 2019 at 7.00 p.m. at the Karol Szymanowski Kraków Philharmonic in the series "Stars with Sinfonietta".

"Stars with Sinfonietta" is Sinfonietta Cracovia's flagship concert series, enjoying great popularity and bringing to Kraków the greatest international musicians. The star of the May evening will be Marisol Montalvo – American soprano specializing in contemporary music. With a "stratospheric" and at the same time "sweet" voice, she has an extremely wide repertoire. As an opera singer, she is valued for her enormous temperament and stage charisma. She already performed with Sinfonietta Cracovia during the Opera Rara festival in Kraków.

The programme of the concert will include Witold Lutosławski's Chantefleurs et Chantefables (Songs and chants) – nine short songs for soprano and orchestra based on the texts by Robert Desnos, and Karol Szymanowski's Słopiewnie – five songs composed to the poems by Julian Tuwim. The orchestra under the baton of Jurek Dybał will also present Polish chamber music: Karol Szymanowski's String Quartet No. 2 and Witold Lutosławski's Little Suite.
