The first Sunday Matinée of the 2025/2026 season at the National Forum of Music will unfold in the spirit of fiery, virtuosic violin chamber music. On 30 November at 12:30 PM, violinists Maria Nowicka and Adam Trzebiatowski, together with pianist Théo Ranganathan, will perform works by seven different composers, inviting the audience on a journey through various corners of Europe.
The afternoon will open in a somber tone, with the whirlwind of passion found in Karol Szymanowski’s Sonata in D Minor, Op. 9. Following this single true chamber-music work on the program, the concert will feature a series of transcriptions of pieces for violin and orchestra by Franz Waxman, Camille Saint-Saëns, Maurice Ravel, Niccolò Paganini, and Pablo de Sarasate.
The performers are young artists studying at state music schools who devote much effort to cultivating the stage charisma essential for virtuosic repertoire. Both Adam Trzebiatowski and Maria Nowicka, honing their craft at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Secondary School of Music in Poznań, are certainly capable of dazzling audiences. Théo Ranganathan — a French pianist and lecturer at the Poznań Academy of Music — will be an ideal partner for them.
