On October 24, 2025, at 8:00 PM, a special concert by the Polish Chamber Choir will take place at the Oliwa Cathedral in Gdańsk as part of the “Laboratory of New Sacred Music” series. The program will feature works by the winners of the International Composition Competition “Musica Sacra Nova,” as well as the spiritually profound Requiem by John Rutter.
The Laboratory of New Sacred Music combines contemporary sacred music with tradition. The initiative was launched in 2021 by Prof. Jan Łukaszewski, whose aim was to revitalize the process of creating interesting and valuable choral music. This goal is also shared by the Musica Sacra Nova competition for young composers, organized since 1996. The premiere performances of the awarded compositions have been an essential part of the Laboratory’s program from the very beginning.
This year’s concert will include Vox dilecti mei and Domine, quis habitabit by Paweł Konkol, as well as Psalmus 91 by Jan Józef Łukaszewski.
The performers will include: Roberta Mameli (soprano), Joanna Dec (flute), Maja Łagowska (oboe), Maciej Kułakowski (cello), Maciej Lange (timpani), Mateusz Wiczyński (percussion), Ewa Bemowska (harp), and Andrzej Białko (organ).
Honorary patronage: Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC, Metropolitan Archbishop of Gdańsk.
The event is sponsored by the Association of Authors ZAiKS.
Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC
