Leszek Wisłocki passed away...

On November 4, 2025, at the age of 93, Leszek Wisłocki (1931–2025), composer, pianist, and conductor, passed away. He was a professor at the Academy of Music in Wrocław and a member of the Polish Composers’ Union since 1964. His funeral will take place on Monday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m., at the Holy Family Parish Cemetery, Smętna 58, Wrocław.

As an educator, he was connected with the State Secondary Music School in Wrocław (1957–1968) and later led the composition class at the State Higher School of Music in Wrocław (now the Academy of Music), becoming a professor in 1990.

His students include P. Drożdżewski, M. Gąsieniec, C. Duchnowski, and R. Osada. Wisłocki also served as vice-dean and dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory, and Music Therapy; vice-dean of the Faculty of Music Education; dean of the Vocal and Acting Faculty; and head of the Department of Composition and Music Theory. Between 1974 and 2000, he also lectured at the Higher Pedagogical Schools in Zielona Góra and Kielce, mentoring over 80 Master of Arts graduates.

He was a dedicated member of the Polish Composers’ Union from 1964, serving as secretary (1964–1981), treasurer (1985–1987), president (until 1991), and vice-president of the Wrocław Branch (1995–1999). Between 1987 and 1989, he was a member of the ZKP Audit Committee. He was also a member of ZAiKS and for many years held positions as vice-president and president of the Lower Silesian Music Society (1980–1998).
