Łódź | Four Decades of Accordion Music

World premieres of accordion works, lectures and master classes with the participation of foreign guests constitute a programme of the International Scientific and Artistic Conference entitled "Four decades of accordion music in the Academy of Music in Łódź – retrospective, current status, continuation strategies", which will be held on 28-29 March 2019.

During the concert in the Academy of Music in Łódź on November 28, two orchestras will perform: the Młodzi nie.poważni Orchestra under the baton of Michał Śmiechowicz and the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Łódź under the direction of Marcin Wolniewski and soloists. As part of the Conference, there will also be a concert of accordion music with world premieres of orchestral and chamber compositions written by Sławomir Kaczorowski, Arshia Samsaminia, Leszek Kołodziejski and Volodymyr Runchak. We will also listen to the Asteroides for accordion ensemble by Bronisław Kazimierz Przybylski.

A block of lectures on various performance and historical issues will begin on March 28 at the Palace of the Music Academy in Łódź. Master classes conducted by artists from abroad will be held both on Thursday and Friday and will be open to public. On March 29 at 4.30 p.m., the organizers also invite for the 50th anniversary of artistic activity of prof. Bogdan Dowlasz, accordionist and composer, pedagogue at the Academy of Music in Łódź, in 1993-99 the rector of this academy. The artistic and pedagogical output of the Professor will be presented, and his works will be performed by teachers and students of the Academy of Music in Łódź. Admission free.
