The upcoming weekend in Lusławice will bring extraordinary repertoire combinations and interesting performance contexts. Agata Zubel (mezzo-soprano), Karolina Mikołajczyk (violin), Ivo Jedynecki (accordion) and the New Music Orchestra conducted by Szymon Bywalec will perform on 17 July 2021. The next day we will hear the jazz legend – Adam Makowicz.
The artistic mission of the New Music Orchestra is to explore the area of contemporary music in search of works that are significant, important for Polish and world music culture, which are worth to be widely promoted. During the concert, the ensemble and soloists will present various works of 20th and 21st century music. We will hear Strophes by Krzysztof Penderecki, Folk songs by Luciano Berio and Opole Concerto by Piotr Moss.
Adam Makowicz – a world-class piano virtuoso, one of the most respected Polish jazz artists abroad – collaborated with the most outstanding jazzmen, including Teddy Wilson and Benny Goodman. In 1977 he emigrated to the USA. He recorded an album Adam for the CBS Columbia record label, performed at Carnegie Hall and at prestigious European and American jazz festivals. From the 1990s, Makowicz regularly came to Poland, giving solo recitals and performing with symphony orchestras, often in classical repertoire. The concert in Lusławice will end the celebrations of the artist's 80th birthday.
