Maria Trzpis' Graduation Concert – 4 World Premieres

After her debut in Gdańsk and Sopot, where her monumental Mass for Choir, Percussion, and String Orchestra was performed, the artist invites you to an evening full of premieres and diverse musical inspirations. The program has been carefully chosen to showcase the full range of her work. The audience will hear not only her autonomous classical music but also songs, film music, and compositions for video games.

The concert will open with a symphonic suite composed for three scenes from the epic RPG game Elden Ring, set in a dark, mysterious fantasy world. In addition to the music, scenes from the game will be projected, further enhanced by choreography.

Next, there will be a world premiere of Les Rituels for solo guitar, dedicated to the renowned guitarist Marcin Kozioł. Maria Trzpis describes her piece as: "A work full of virtuosity, perfectly suited to Marcin’s extraordinary skills. The piece includes a range of modern guitar techniques, allowing listeners to experience the instrument in a completely new light."

Following this, a fairytale-like atmosphere will be created by Na kwitnącej łące (On the Blooming Meadow) for mezzo-soprano and words by Ewa Podlesińska, which had its world premiere at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic on October 31, 2023. The next piece will be the lively First String Quartet. Then, drawing from the tradition of silent film scoring, there will be music for Get Out and Get Under, performed live to the projected film by two pianists playing Maria's composition. The piece evokes the distinctive sounds of the 1920s, full of humor, tension, and vitality.

The concert will continue with the virtuosic Rozália for solo cello, and it will conclude with the world premiere of Do rzeki (To the River). This composition, awarded second place in the Composition Competition for a Song to the Words of Zbigniew Herbert, is one of Maria Trzpis’ most reflective, emotional, and beloved works.

The performers will include students and graduates from all four departments of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

The concert will also offer a space for inspiring interactions with the audience, discussions, interviews, and a reception for guests.

The concert will be hosted by Piotr Gawarecki-Andruszko.
