Padua | Copernicus 2023 – proMODERN sextet concert in Padua

Copernicus - koncert sekstetu ProModern

The proMODERN contemporary music vocal sextet will present the ‘Copernicus 2023’ music program in Padua. On Independence Day – the 11th of November, 2023 - the sextet will perform in the Hall of Giants of Palazzo Liviano together with Concentus Musics Patavinus.

The special programme for the Year of Copernicus ‘Copernicus’ opens with early a cappella works, musically illustrating the places where Nicolaus Copernicus lived and worked. There will be songs related to Toruń, the hometown of the Polish astronomer (by Piotr from Grudziądz), to Cracow, where he undertook his first studies and obtained canonical ordination (compositions by Mikołaj of Cracow and Sebastian of Felsztyn), to the Italian cities of Padua and Bologna, where he completed his education (works by Bartolomeo Tromboncino and Gaspar van der Weerbeke) and finally with the Warmian cities of Lidzbark, Olsztyn and Frombork, where he was active scientifically and administratively (music by Hainrich Isaac, Ludwig Senfl and Pierre de la Rue).
