Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the baton of Ernst van Tiel at the Baltic Sea Festival in Stockholm on August 29, 2016.
The Baltic Sea Festival, founded in 2003 and directed by Esa-Pekka Salonen, operates in three main areas in order to create a better future for the Baltic Sea region. Its organizers believe that music can serve as a good platform, and that it can initiate discussions that can solve large and difficult questions, including environmental issues.
Polish Baltic Philharmonic will perform at the Festival for the first time. The aritst will present Divertimento by Grażyna Bacewicz, Violin Concerto No. 1 by Dmitri Shostakovich (with Alena Baeva as soloist) and Symphony No. 4, Tansman Episodes by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, the latter of which will have its first performance in Sweden.
The concert will be broadcast at Radio Culture.
