Polish Composers’ Union Centennial Festival: “Meeting at the Composers’” with Jerzy Stankiewicz

Information about the event | Warszawa | 05 November 2025

Régamey & Regamey – Still Little-Known Composers Connected to Poland Will Be the Focus of the “Meeting at the Composers’” on November 5, 2025, at 4:30 PM.
Free admission!

Jerzy Stankiewicz, musicologist who has spent many years thoroughly and effectively researching the lives and works of both figures, will discuss them in conversation with Mieczysław Kominek.

While the profile of Constantin Régamey – composer, writer, and orientalist – is familiar to specialists, it remains far too little known to the general public, especially given the importance of his creative output. As for Konstanty Kazimierz Regamey, Constantin’s father – a pedagogue and composer – until recently, he was almost entirely unknown, both among music lovers and professionals alike. And yet, both men deserve far greater recognition – not only for their works but also for their life stories, unusually complex, strikingly different from each other, culminating in the dramatic and moving fate of Régamey senior, who was executed by the Soviet regime in January 1938 after being sentenced for espionage.

The audience will hear about Stankiewicz’s fascinating and instructive collaborations with individuals, libraries, and archives in Ukraine, Russia, and Switzerland, and also about the projects carried out in recent years by the Polish Composers’ Union under his scholarly guidance – a dedicated website and two CD albums.
