The Silesian Chamber Orchestra, conducted by the director of the Silesian Philharmonic, Adam Wesołowski, will perform as part of the multidisciplinary project "Przystanek Śląsk". A concert of Polish music will take place on October 8, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz Studio Theatre in Warsaw.
The concert will open with Wojciech Kilar's energetic Orawa - a composition inspired by the culture and nature of the Polish mountains. This will be followed by Kilar’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2, with Piotr Sałajczyk, renowned for his exceptional interpretations of contemporary piano music, as the soloist.
The second half of the concert will feature works by the director of the Silesian Philharmonic. Adam Wesołowski's Silver Concerto incorporates not only traditional instruments but also sounds from the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The evening will conclude with Sinfonia industrialna, enhanced by archival video footage depicting the history of one of Poland's largest and oldest mines.
