"Polish Music Scene": Nemesis Quartet

The program for the concert of the "Polish Music Scene" series on February 25, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Silesian Philharmonic is a peculiar synthesis of the classicist type of performing cast with romantic and 20th century repertoire, strongly rooted in romanticism. The Nemesis Quartet will perform, which consists of Łukasz Dyczko, Oskar Rzążewski, Karol Mastalerz and Wojciech Chałupka - musicians who are among the leading Polish saxophonists of the young generation.

The concert program will include works inspired by folklore, which, in Wojciech Chalupka's and Karol Mastalerz's original arrangements, will expose the great technical and expressive possibilities inherent in the cast of a saxophone quartet.

We will hear compositions by seven Polish composers - Witold Lutoslawski (Zasłyszana Melodyjka), Karol Szymanowski (selection of Mazurkas, Op. 50), Zygmunt Noskowski (Krakowiak, Op. 2, No. 1), Ludomir Różycki (Polish Dances, Op. 37), Józef Nowakowski (Fantaisie, Op. 51), Fryderyk Chopin (Mazurkas in A minor, Op. 17 No. 4 and C major, Op. 24, No. 2) and Szymon Laks (String Quartet No. 3 "On Polish Folk Themes").

Nemesis Quartet concerts will also be held at the Sudecka Philharmonic (February 22) and the Warsaw Philharmonic (June 3).

The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of the "Polish Music Scene" program, financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
