A unique concert from a series of events commemorating the 120th birth anniversary of Polish composer Jan Adam Maklakiewicz will be held on May 22, 2019 at 6.00 pm in the Seweryn Mielżyńsk Meeting Roomi at the Poznań Society of Friends of Sciences.
The aim of the event is to restore the memory of Jan Adam Maklakiewicz (1899-1954) – an excellent Polish musician, composer, pedagogue, publicist and organizer of musical life. The concert will feature valuable and yet unknown compositions of this Polish artist. The programme will be composed of various solo and chamber pieces: Reflexions, Op. 14, Hutsul Suite, Op. 15 No. 1 and Ave Maria for violin and piano as well as selected songs (I will disappear from your eyes like a bird, Four Japanese Songs, Op. 25, You Can't Help Love, Cradle Song for soprano and piano, Kujawiak for piano). It will also include works by Stanisław Moniuszko, Fryderyk Chopin and Grażyna Bacewicz.
The concert will be peformed by graduates and pedagogues of the Academy of Music in Poznań: Piotr Kosarga (violin), Hanna Lizinkiewicz (piano) and Barbara Tritt (soprano).
