On October 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM, during the inaugural concert of the 70th Jubilee Artistic Season 2024/2025 at the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, the world premiere of Krzysztof Meyer's Musica concertante No. 2 for two flutes and orchestra will take place. The OiFP Orchestra, conducted by Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, will perform alongside distinguished soloists Agata Kielar-Długosz and Łukasz Długosz.
In this four-movement piece by Krzysztof Meyer, the role of the symphony orchestra is not limited to mere accompaniment but provides a colorful, innovative contrapuntal counterpart to the flutes.
After the intermission, Gustav Mahler's monumental Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor will be performed.
The event is funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund, as part of the "Composer Commissions" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
