To mark the completion of his bachelor's degree, Adrian Widuch, from the composition class of Professor Aleksander Nowak, PhD, Habil., has prepared a concert in which he wishes to present his compositional output to date, including works in the Silesian language with his own lyrics, as well as the premiere of the dance performance Ergosoma. The concert will take place at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice on June 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
The event will open with the choral piece Huta (2024) in the Silesian language, set to the composer's own lyrics. The next work, København-Skåne – spōmniynie (2024) for accordion, performed by Maciej Ochwat, is a sonic postcard from a bicycle trip to the Swedish-Danish borderlands. It was commissioned by the Accordionists' Student Scientific Association of the Katowice Academy. The second fully instrumental work to be heard this evening will be PuHaFa (2024), commissioned by Professor Gabriela Szendzielorz-Jungiewicz. It was written for a rare ensemble and will be performed by Dawid Bajdiuk (trombone), Emilia Jastrząb (harp), and Weronika Mantur (bassoon).
Next, Adrian Widuch's previously unpublished song output will be presented, performed by mezzo-soprano Milena Sobczyk, pianist Jan Bolek, and percussionist Max Myłek. They will perform Moartea Magdalenei (2024) to words by Iulia Hasdeu for mezzo-soprano and piano, as well as the song Jak jedno (2025) to lyrics by the composer himself for mezzo-soprano, piano, and percussion.
The culmination of the evening will be the premiere of the dance performance Ergosoma (2026), set to three poems by Anouk Herman from the collection Silesian Gothic.
The dancers have been prepared by Janusz Skubaczkowski, PhD, Habil., while the choir and instrumental ensemble have been prepared by Eryk Walda, who will conduct the composition. The concert will be hosted by Paweł Blaszczyk.
Honorary patronage of the concert has been assumed by the Polish Composers' Union.
