Union Square - the first monographic album by composer Jakub Polaczyk, who celebrates his 40th birthday this year, will be released in the USA by Albany Records (TROY1926). The premiere of the album will take place on the 1st of March, 2023 on Radio Savannah WRLL 107.5. The New York premiere will take place on the 9th of March 9 at the Polish & Slavic Center in Brooklyn.
Most of the songs on this album were composed in New York, where many cultures meet and interact. Jakub Polaczyk is an ambassador of Polish music in this city. He is the director of the Chopin and Friends International Festival. It presents Polish contemporary and classical music to the New York audience. He teaches at the New York Conservatory of Music. His compositions have been performed all over the world by ensembles such as Avanti, Slee Sinfonietta, NeoQuartet, Argus Quartet, Cracow Duo, NED, Polański Duo, Blow Up Percussion, Cracow Golden Quintet, Four Corners, Bulgarian National Orchestra, Brazilian National Orchestra, Carnegie Contemporary Ensemble.
The recording of the latest album with Polaczyk's music was attended by recognized Polish musicians: Paweł Cieślak, Renata Guzik, Paweł Kubica, Maciej Zimka, Wojtek Komsta, Wioletta Strączek and the afraH and telF ensemble.
