The Stanisław Moniuszko Grand Theatre invites you to the premiere of the opera Ślub by Zygmunt Krauze, directed by Krzysztof Cicheński, on November 22, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The performance, marking the 120th anniversary of the and the 55th anniversary of death of Witold Gombrowicz, will be presented at the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw immediately after its Poznań premiere on December 1.
The first-ever staged opera production of Ślub in Poland has been prepared for the Grand Theatre in Poznań as part of the "Composer Commissions" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance. The musical direction has been entrusted to conductor Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak. The soloists will be: Michał Partyka, Jan Jakub Monowid, Piotr Kalina, Łukasz Konieczny, Gosha Kowalinska, and Monika Mych-Nowicka.
The powerful music of Zygmunt Krauze, one of the leading Polish composers of the turn of the century, perfectly reflects the message of Gombrowicz's work and highlights that megalomania, power, and the desire for control are sins not only of the past but also a flaw of the present.
The presentation of the new Poznań production in the capital is part of a collaboration between cultural institutions and an inspiring confrontation with a new audience.
The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund, as part of the "Composer Commissions" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
