Paweł Gancarczyk’s book La musique et la révolution de l’imprimerie received the Prix des Muses award.
The award is given each year by the Fondation Singer-Polignac for the best French-language book devoted to music. 61 books published in 2015 by 26 publishers were nominated to the 23rd edition of the award.
Paweł Gancarczyk is a professor at Polish Academy of Sciences and a musicologist specializing in early music. He has participated in several international research projects and his books were published in 12 European countries. In 2011-2014 he was a chairman of the Musicologists’ Section of the Polish Composers’ Union. His book La musique et la révolution de l’imprimerie was published by Symétrie (Lyon) in September 2015. Its Polish version, released in 2011 by the Nicolaus Copernicus University Press, was translated into French by Wojciech Bońkowski.
The award will be handed out on March 31, 2016 in Paris.
