Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir will perform oratorio Quo Vadis by Feliks Nowowiejski on August 28, 2016 in St. Anne’s and St. Stephen’s Church in Barczewo (composer’s hometown).
The work, written in 1903, is based on a storyline from Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel. It was premiered in 1907 in Ústí nad Labem (Czech Republic). The revised version of the oratorio was then performed in 1909 by the Concertgebouw Orchestra under the baton of Johan Schoonderbeek. On August 28, it will be interpreted by Olga Rusin (soprano), Sebastian Szumski (baritone), Jacek Ozimkowski (bass), Arkadiusz Bialic (organ), Górecki Chamber Choir, and Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir under the baton of Piotr Sułkowski.
The concert is co-financed by the National Cultural Centre and the Marshal’s Office of the Warmia and Mazury Province.
