Release of the album “Morceaux oubliés” (DUX)

- | 30 November 2025

The album Morceaux oubliés (DUX 2184) marks the phonographic premiere of piano works by Polish composers, performed by Ewa Skardowska. Starting from 30 November 2025, the CD will be available in Empik stores, quality music shops, and at the DUX website https://www.dux.pl/

For each of the turn-of-the-century composers featured, piano miniatures represent a distinct contribution to their creative output. Ludwik Morelowski composed exclusively for piano; Stanisław Lipski expressed himself most fully in songs; while Raul Koczalski—an outstanding pianist and virtuoso—was the most versatile. Ewa Skardowska, an artist consistently revealing lesser-known pages of music history to her listeners, presents selected works by composers who continued the traditions of Chopin, Żeleński, and Stojowski, yet developed their own individual styles. This individuality can be heard, among other elements, in their departure from traditional forms in favour of free, impressionistic structures shaped by emotional tension. It is music of many shades, where one may hear influences of the brillante style, impressionistic visions, as well as the dense textures of Brahms’ counterpoint. Striking features include surprising harmonic shifts and tonal relationships foreshadowing a definitive farewell to the major–minor convention.

The album Morceaux oubliés will soon be available on all streaming platforms.
