Newly released CD Roman Palester. Piano and Chamber Music and a website dedicated to Roman Palester (lauched in September 2016 by Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC) will be presented during the promotional meeting and concert held on December 2, 2016 at the PWM Edition office in Warsaw.
Palester was one of the greatest composers of his generation. He emigrated from Poland to France in 1950, which resulted in censorship office banning his name. He was erased from the member list of the Polish Composers’ Union, performing his music was prohibited and single mention of him disappeared from encyclopaedias, dictionaries, publishers’ catalogues and all kinds of publications. Today his music is unfortunately still absent from Polish musical life.
The CD, recorded by pianist Jakub Tchorzewski and Duo Viennese (violinists Paweł Zalejski and Monika Hager-Zalejski), features Palester’s Duos for 2 violins, Sonata for 2 violins and piano and Polish Dance for violin and piano (fragment from the ballet Song of the Land). Released by Warner Music Poland-Polskie Nagrania record label, the album was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, City of Warsaw and University of Warsaw Foundation.
Project partners: Polish Radio Programme 2, University of Warsaw Library, Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC and PWM Edition.
December promotional meeting will be enriched with Jakub Tchorzewski’s performance of piano works by Roman Palester.
