International Competition of Organ Duets "Per Organo a quattro mani", organ masterclasses and a series of concerts entitled Music and the Liturgical Year: Thesaurus Ecclesiae will be held as part of the Sądecka Organ Academy between April 1-8, 2017 in Nowy Sącz.
In 2007, the main hall of the "Sokół" Małopolska Culture Centre (Nowy Sącz) named after Lucjan Lipiński was equipped with 51-voice concert organ, which made it the second having with such instrument in the Małopolska Province (after the Krakow Philharmonic). Renovated in 2016, the instrument offers a rich spectrum of timbre and wide range of dynamics. Another unique organ, constructed according to the directions of Prof. Ireneusz Wyrwa (Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw) by German company Werkstätte für Orgelbau Mühleisen GmbH, is available at the St. Casimir Church, located nearby the Culture Centre. Both instruments provide an excellent conditions for organizing organ-related events, such as the Sądecka Organ Academy. Its main objectives include popularizing the organ repertoire, and scientific and educational initiatives that draw the attention of Polish and foreign music lovers.
The opening concert, held on April 1, will be performed by Ireneusz Wyrwa and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra under Tomasz Tokarczyk.
