Salzburg | WØD-Weinberg Festival 2023: Polish songs of Mieczysław Weinberg

Wajnberg 3 11 23Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk (soprano), Anna Bernacka (mezzo-soprano) and pianist Monika Kruk will present three song cycles by Mieczyslaw Wajnberg written to Polish poetry by Julian Tuwim on the 3rd of November, 2023 at Festival WØD-Weinberg 2023 at the Orchesterhaus in Salzburg.

We will hear rarely performed works from different periods of the composer's life: Old Letters, Op. 77, Memory, Op. 62, and the composer's Gypsy Bible, Op. 57. There will also be Three Songs, Op. 22, to poems by Adam Mickiewicz.

The main premise of the WØD-Weinberg 2023 festival, organized by the West-East Divan Association (WØD for short), is to present works by composers drawing on the heritage of different cultures. In addition to Wajnberg's works, we will hear compositions by Valentin Silvestrov, Sergei Prokofiev, Coptic, Arabic and Indian music.
