An Evening at the Silesian Philharmonic on July 11, 2025, at 7:00 PM will be a remarkable encounter with piano virtuosity and expressive depth. The stage of the Silesian Philharmonic will welcome Mateusz Dubiel, winner of the 1st Prize at the 53rd National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Performing alongside the Silesian Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Szymon Morus, this concert offers a unique opportunity to hear a rising star of Polish pianism in a program combining Romantic passion, Italian lyricism, and contemporary inspirations.
Mateusz Dubiel is currently studying at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow with Professor Mirosław Herbowsky. He is a laureate of numerous prestigious competitions in Poland and abroad, including 2nd Prize at the “Jeune Chopin” International Piano Competition in Lugano (Switzerland), 1st Prize at the 51st National Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2022), and 2nd Prize at the Baltic International Piano Competition in Gdańsk (2023). On this special evening, he will perform Fryderyk Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11.
The program will also feature contemporary Polish music, including Karol Zamorski-Świetlik’s Quartet, arranged for string orchestra, and The Butterfly Effect – Hommage à Puccini by Maciej Zakrzewski, a modern reflection on the legacy of the opera master.
Additionally, the orchestra will present works evoking the spirit of Italian theatre: the Intermezzo from Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana and the Goldonian Intermezzi by Marco Enrico Bossi.
