On 7 March 2025 at 7 p.m. the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Przemysław Neumann will take us on a journey in the footsteps of Ludwig van Beethoven and Aleksander Nowak.
It will be recalled that in 1806, Beethoven spent several weeks in Głogówek, in the residence of Count Franz Joachim Wenzel von Oppersdorff, a great music lover who owned a private orchestra. It was there that Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, considered one of the composer's most joyful and carefree works, was written, and it is this symphony that will be performed at Friday's concert. That evening, the orchestra will also perform Beethoven's dramatic and suspenseful 'Coriolan' Overture.
We will also hear Symphony No. 1 "Truth?" by Silesian-born Aleksander Nowak. It was created as part of the 'Krynicki' project, in which three composers created works inspired by the poetry of Ryszard Krynicki. Aleksander Nowak composed a monumental and majestic piece that asks the listener the eternal question of what truth is. As the composer writes:
"Like the genre of the symphony, the nature of which can be asked anew at any time, it eludes clear definitions. What is truth and what is a symphony? It is difficult to say."
