The program of the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus, named after Jerzy Semkow, on May 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM, conducted by the esteemed conductor Maciej Tworek, is colorful and varied. At the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, magnificent works by Aleksander Tansman, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Arthur Honegger will be performed.
Two concert pieces will allow for the display of virtuosity and tonal beauty from two instrumental pairs: violin, and oboe and clarinet. The legendary figure of Polish violinists, Krzysztof Jakowicz, will perform Bach's masterpiece – the Double Violin Concerto in D minor – with the young violinist Kornelia Figielska, concertmaster of the Orchestra. Her excellent colleagues, Agata Bała and Bolesław Twardziak, will present a piece by Aleksander Tansman. "Full of grace and brilliance, the Concertino for oboe and clarinet is truly emblematic of his cheerful, light, and elegantly spirited style," emphasizes virtuoso Piotr Maculewicz.
Swiss composer Arthur Honegger, a generational contemporary of Tansman, also worked primarily in France. Directly after the end of World War II, influenced by its traumatic experiences, he composed the Symphonie liturgique – a piece that, since its premiere, has become one of the most frequently performed works by the composer.
The concert is financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
