"Faces of Love" – this is the title of the concert that will inaugurate the 2025/2026 artistic season of Sinfonietta Cracovia.
The Orchestra of the Capital City of Cracow will perform on September 14 at 6:00 PM together with the internationally acclaimed Polish violinist Bartłomiej Nizioł.
Under the baton of Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, the artists will present works by Penderecki, Bernstein, Williams, and Shostakovich, each carrying a profound emotional message.
The evening will open with Agnus Dei by Krzysztof Penderecki, arranged for string orchestra.
Bartłomiej Nizioł will join Sinfonietta Cracovia to perform Leonard Bernstein’s rarely presented, graceful Serenade, inspired by Plato’s Symposium. This particular composition inspired the concert’s theme, as it reflects five faces of love discussed in Plato’s work. Nizioł will perform on a 1727 Guarneri del Gesù violin.
After the intermission, the program continues with works regarded as pinnacles of string literature and beautiful themes by master composers:
Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and the Chamber Symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich.
