Sinfonietta Cracovia's concert program on March 2, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. is a look toward new horizons of music, as well as an intriguing reference to old forms. This time, the Orchestra, conducted by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, invites you to meet new music in the iconic Cricoteka building, on the banks of the Vistula River, where works referring to musical and literary traditions will be presented.
The first and last to be heard will be works by female composers: Es Lärmt das Licht by Agata Zubel for soprano and string orchestra to a poem by Rilke, and Entr'acte by American composer Caroline Shaw, which was written in collaboration with the London Sinfonietta. The concert will culminate with a performance of Mikołaj Majkusiak's Duel, a concerto for two violins and orchestra, commissioned by Sinfonietta Cracovia in 2024.
The soloists will include Fiona Winning, violist of the London Sinfonietta, soprano Raphaële Kennedy and violinists Piotr Tarcholik and Maciej Lulek.
