The world premiere of the monumental Gloria by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa will take place on May 9, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Cracow Philharmonic. The piece, written for symphony orchestra, mixed choir, and children’s choir, was commissioned by the Philharmonic to mark its jubilee 80th artistic season.
Gloria will be performed by the Orchestra and Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic, the Boys’ and Girls’ Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic, and the Ukrainian Children’s Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic, under the direction of Alexander Humala.
Special guest pianist Ivo Pogorelich will also perform that evening, presenting Fryderyk Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21.
The program will also include Exodus by Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar, for symphony orchestra and tape, a work that received distinction at the Women Composers’ Competition in Mannheim.
A meeting with Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa and Dr. Daniel Cichy will be held at 6:00 PM in the Golden Hall – admission free!
Two days later, on May 11, Gloria will also be performed at the Warsaw Philharmonic.
The project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, with funds from the Culture Promotion Fund, under the “Compositional Commissions” program carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
The publisher of works by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa and Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar is the Polish Music Publishing House (Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne).
