The motto "Stawisko – A place of Symbiosis of Arts and Cultures" accompanies a new interdisciplinary project of the Museum of Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz in Stawisko, which will be held between 10 October and 5 December 2021. The idea is to continue the tradition of the Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz House as a space for symbiosis of arts, an area open to various cultures.
The universalism of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz's literary output is, among others, the effect of experiencing multiculturalism that accompanied him constantly, from the earliest period of his life to the last years. A special value of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz's writing is also sensitivity to other fields of art, among which music plays a leading role. Musical feelings are usually an inseparable element of experiences accompanying reflections caused by the works of painters, sculptors, architects, and also by natural phenomena.
The festival is planned as a five-year cycle. This year, it will be devoted to the relations between the Iwaszkiewicz family and the House in Stawisko with Jewish culture, as well as relations with outstanding writers, composers and artists of Jewish origin. We will hear songs by Szymon Laks, Alexandre Tansman, poetic songs to words by Ginczanka, Mandelsztam, Leśmian, Tuwim, Ficowski, as well as traditional Jewish music.
The programme also includes an exhibition documenting the merits of the Iwaszkiewicz family in saving Jews during the occupation (they were honoured posthumously with the Righteous Among the Nations Medal), music concerts of various genres and styles, and literary meetings.
