The Open Theater in Gdańsk invites you to concerts as part of the series ‘We will not abandon the land where our roots are’ , which will take place in Suwałki, Białystok and Łapy on July 17-29, 2022. Singers from all over the country, accompanied by a chamber ensemble, will perform songs that accompanied the Polish nation in important historical events and which over the years were ennobled to the rank of national songs. Admission to all events of the series is free!
During the five concerts of the cycle, we are going to present songs that used to be sung in Polish houses in the days of yore, songs that accompanied the Polish nation during important historic events, that, over the years, were nobilitated as national, homeland songs, such songs that might be regarded as a documentation of a given epoch or a moving evidence of given times.
Apart from patriotic songs, the programme of the cycle of concerts “We will not abandon the land where our roots are” includes the music of two leading Polish composers of the period of Romanticism: Frederic Chopin and Stanisław Moniuszko.
We are also going to present the compositions of some other Polish composers of the late Romanticism, such as Z. Noskowski, St. NIewiadomski, F. Nowowiejski, whose creative work includes songs composed for Maria Konopnicka’s poems.
