“Symphonic Worlds for Everyone”: Sinfonia Iuventus and Antoni Wit

Information about the event | Warszawa | 10 January 2026

“Symphonic Worlds for Everyone” is a project of the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra that opens the space of classical music to all—regardless of location, time, or the ability to attend concerts in person. Thanks to an online broadcast, the Orchestra’s concert at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw on January 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., conducted by Antoni Wit, will become accessible to a wide audience, allowing listeners to experience the beauty of music at the highest level.

Maestro Antoni Wit, who will conduct the January concert, has put together a fascinating program that juxtaposes two masterpieces separated by nearly half a century, revealing an intriguing line in the development of the Romantic symphony—one strongly rooted in classical models, yet infused with entirely new and distinct expressive content.

The Symphony in B-flat major “Spring” was composed in early 1841, during a particularly creative period in Robert Schumann’s career, shortly after his marriage to Clara Wieck. Originally, each of its four movements bore poetic titles (“The Beginning of Spring,” “Evening,” “Joyful Play,” “Spring in Full Bloom”) intended to convey the spirit of nature’s awakening and human emotions. Schumann later abandoned these titles, leaving the interpretation to the listeners’ sensitivity. Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 (1888), with its conceptual arc (“per aspera ad astra”), is sometimes compared to Beethoven’s famous symphony of the same number; here, however, the emotional span between the tragedy of the opening and the triumph of the finale is even more pronounced.
