Szczecin | To those who have not returned from the sea...
A concert dedicated Tothose who have not returned from the sea... will be held on 8 June 2019 at 10pm at the Central Cemetery in Szczecin. The programme will include works by Marek Jasiński and Ola Gjeilo.
It is a periodic event taking place in the unusual scenery of the Central Cemetery, among the symbolic graves of those who were taken by the sea. In this way, the organizers want once again to commemorate the people who have tied their lives to the sea. The music is accompanied by lights, which intensifies the mood of the evening. The concert is preceded by a maritime ceremonial with the participation of the honorary company of students of the Maritime University of Szczecin. The unique atmosphere of the event attracts over a thousand spectators every year.
During this year's concert dedicated Tothose who have not returned from the sea... we will listen to Marek Jasiński's Stabat Mater and Sunrise Mass by the Norwegian composer of the younger generation Ola Gjeilo. Recognized as a rising star of world classical music,Ola Gjeilo has created his own style inspired by classical, film, folk and jazz music. The four-part Sunrise Mass is an affirmation of the beauty of nature and a reflection on man's desire to rule the world. The works will be performed by the Jan Szyrocki ZUT Academic Choir and the Orchestra of the Castle Opera in Szczecin under the direction of Szymon Wyrzykowski.
