The 19th Gdańsk Music Festival will be held between May 7 and 16, 2026. The program features 12 concerts that will be performed by renowned soloists and ensembles from Poland and abroad.
The official opening will be preceded by a prologue. On May 7, the Baltic Jazz Orchestra, led by Jan Konop, will perform at the Concert Hall of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. The remaining concerts will present classical music at its finest. The event will be inaugurated by a symphonic concert featuring violinist Veriko Tchumburidze and the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Łukasz Borowicz, interpreting Wynton Marsalis’s Violin Concerto. The renowned Polish violinist Jakub Jakowicz will perform with the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of George Tchitchinadze on May 15.
The outstanding French pianist Lucas Debargue will appear on stage twice: he will perform Miłosz Magin’s Piano Concerto with Capella Bydgostiensis conducted by Mykola Diadiura (May 9), and give an extraordinary piano recital at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic (May 10). Another highlight will be a concert by piano duos formed specifically for the Festival, consisting of laureates and - currently - jurors of the Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. World-renowned pianists Ewa Pobłocka and Dang Thai Son will take the stage at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic. The audience will also listen to laureates of the International Johannes Brahms Chamber Music Competition as part of the festival series "Youth Stage".
On May 12, at the Basilica of St. Nicholas in Gdańsk, the Polish Chamber Choir Schola Cantorum Gedanensis, conducted by Jan Łukaszewski, will present treasures of Gdańsk music.
The event will culminate in an early music concert featuring the world-renowned violinist Giuliano Carmignola, an expert in historically informed performance. The artist will perform alongside Cappella Gedanensis at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Gdańsk.
