The French premiere of the first Polish Mass in honor of St. Adalbert, composed by Łukasz Urbaniak, will take place on March 29 and 30, 2025, in the French cities of Thann and Dannemarie. The work, Missa in honorem Sancti Adalberti, is the first mass in the history of Polish music dedicated to St. Wojciech. The piece was created in 2016 to commemorate the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland. It has been performed twice so far (in Poznań and Bydgoszcz), by the Poznań Chamber Choir and the Poznań Philharmonic, conducted by Bartosz Michałowski.
The performers of the March concerts will be recognized French artists: the Ensemble Vocal du Pays de Thann and the Mulhouse Brass Quintet (musicians from the conservatory in Mulhouse), conducted by Michèle Huss, the choir's conductor and artistic director. A special opportunity to present Urbaniak’s Mass is the choir’s anniversary—celebrating its thirtieth year of activity. The presence of the composer at these concerts, as the singers emphasize, will be an important highlight of the anniversary celebrations.
