The Great Book of Miniatures, or a musical kaleidoscope

The online premiere of the project entitled The Great Book of Miniatures, or a musical kaleidoscope of Grzegorz Majka will take place on 5 December 2020 at 8.00 p.m.

In 2017, contemporary Polish chamber literature was enriched with a series of 30 miniatures, composed by Grzegorz Majka as part of a creative scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. This year, on the other hand, 16 parts of the cycle were recorded thanks to the support of the National Centre for Culture as part of the "Culture on the web" programme. This is how The Great Book of Miniatures, or a musical kaleidoscope was created. As the composer points out, "Each of the 16 episodes of the series presents one miniature, based on a specific compositional technique or written in a specific aesthetics. The episodes include an introduction to the used technique, a presentation of the score, parts of the practice process with the composer's commentary, and finally the performance itself ". The project was realised with the participation of teachers and graduates of the Primary Music School in Domosławice.

The summary of the entire project will be presented on Saturday. All parts of the cycle will be performed as one, half-hour long music programme. The online premiere will take place on the project's Facebook page.
