The Symphony Orchestra of the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic will premiere “Legendy Świętokrzyskie” by Mateusz Ryczek, President of the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Composers' Union, conducted by Jacek Rogala on March 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
Each part of “Legendy Świętokrzyskie” - in the style of a symphonic poem - is inspired by a different legend connected to the Świętokrzyskie Mountains and the Kielce region: “Pielgrzym Pokutnik”, “Diabeł i Rycerz”, "Złoto na Gołoborzu", "Barbara Rusinowska", and "Czarownica i Parobek". The piece was created thanks to funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Cultural Promotion Fund as part of the "Composer Commissions" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
The music evening will begin with the symphonic fairy tale Kikimora by Anatol Ladow. The program will also feature the fourth part of Jean Sibelius's Lemminkäinen Suite and The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas.
The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of the "Musician-in-Residence" program, funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The musician-in-residence at the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in the 2024/25 season is Magdalena Basaj.
