The premiere of Michał Janocha's interactive online opera

JanochaThe premiere of Michał Janocha's interactive online opera Jest na to czas i miejsce [There is a time and place for this], the form of which depends on the viewers' imagination, will take place on 29 November 2020 at 8.00 p.m.

There is a time and place for this is a project that combines the features of opera, interactive film, video game and broadly understood audio-visual and intermedia art. The course of the opera takes the form of branched variants. It is the choices made by the viewer that determine the continuity of events, and above all their perception and meaning. During key scenes, the viewer will be asked to make a choice or to interact with the work in some other way.

The libretto was created as a synthesis of literary works by Sophocles, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, George Orwell, Marry Shelley, Bruno Schulz, Franz Kafka and others. Common threads and issues presented in these works create the content of the opera. Similarly, the heroes, whose features belong to many personalities, represent operatic characters "from many worlds at the same time". The source of the text is also the composer's dialogue with the Mitsuku chatbot (Kuki by Pandorabots®) – artificial intelligence, a 5-time winner of the Loebner award (awards for the most humanoid AI). In There is a time and place for this, the viewer will have the opportunity to take an active part in this dialogue. The opera will be premiered by: Zuzanna Caban, Marta Kosiorek, Piotr Sędkowski, Damian Żebrowski and the Trans-for-Matha Ensemble – an orchestra specializing in the performance of contemporary music, which was founded in 2018 in Poznań by Michał Janocha and Dominik Puk.

The project was implemented under the scholarship programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Culture on the Web".

The opera will be presented at: https://www.trans-for-matha.com/multimedia
