“The Radiance of Love” — Concert Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Tenor Jacek Szymański’s Artistic Career

Information about the event | Gdańsk | 20 December 2025

A concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of the artistic career of tenor Jacek Szymański will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Oblate Centre for Education and Culture in Gdańsk.

On a December evening, when the city is wrapped in the glow of festive lights, an extraordinary event will unfold — a concert that will become not only an artistic experience, but also a spiritual celebration of love in its many forms. “The Radiance of Love” is a title that speaks for itself, while at the same time inviting discovery.
Love — as a creative force, as longing, as joy, as memory.
Love — present in classical music, in the dreamy phrases of musical theatre, in the lightness of operetta, in the nostalgia of songs from the interwar period, and in the emotional power of film music.
Love — sung in the most beautiful Polish Christmas carols and pastoral songs, which at this special time of year gain an even deeper meaning.

The central figure of the evening will be Jacek Szymański — a renowned tenor and pedagogue, an artist of exceptional sensitivity and refinement, whose voice has moved audiences in Poland and abroad for many years. The concert “The Radiance of Love” will serve as a symbolic summation of his artistic journey to date. He will be joined by artists with whom he has forged lasting musical friendships and unique stage chemistry: bass Dariusz S. Wójcik, Director of the Open Theatre in Gdańsk, and pianists Anna Mikolon and Rafał Lewandowski. The evening will be hosted by Stanisława Grażyńska, who will gracefully guide the audience through this musical narrative.

The choice of date is no coincidence — it is the perfect moment to pause amid the pre-Christmas rush and gift oneself a moment of beauty.

The program will include, among others:

  • the song cycle Poet’s Love (Dichterliebe), Op. 48 by Robert Schumann,
  • songs by Polish composers, including Jan Maklakiewicz and Roman Palester,
  • love-themed pieces from well-known musicals and operettas,
  • and the most beautiful Polish Christmas carols and pastoral songs.

The project is co-financed by the City of Gdańsk.
