On March 24, 2025, the jury of the 8th International Krzysztof Penderecki Competition for Young Composers, organized by the Cracow Branch of the Polish Composers' Union, held a meeting. The competition received scores from North Macedonia, Mexico, Poland, Italy, and the USA, with one being rejected due to non-compliance with the rules.
The jury consisted of: Marcel Chyrzyński (chairman), Zbigniew Bargielski, Ivan Buffa (Slovakia), Federico Gardella (Italy), Jeajoon Ryu (South Korea), and Wojciech Widłak. The Competition Secretary was Aleksandra Patalas.
After reviewing the scores, the jury decided to award the Grand Prize of 1,000 USD to the composition Silver Chimes (emblem: Yellow Circle).
Additionally, the jury decided to grant an honorable mention for the composition Beyond the Veil of Shadows (emblem: 2NIKPUSL2).
Upon opening of the envelopes, it was revealed that the recipient of the Grand Prize is Andrea Mastropasqua from Italy.
The distinguished composer is Szymon Golec from Poland.
The official announcement of the results and the world premiere of the winning composition will take place in May 2025 during a concert as part of the 37th Cracow International Festival of Composers.
