As part of the “Choir – Masterfully!” cycle, on 14 December 2025 at 5:00 PM, the Silesian Philharmonic Choir conducted by Tomasz Giedwiłło will present a program in which diverse languages of sacred music meet—from the Renaissance polyphony of Palestrina, through the contemporary reflections of John Rutter and Arvo Pärt, to the world premiere of a work by Piotr Pudełko.
The concert will feature some of the most moving compositions by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, John Rutter, and Arvo Pärt—works that accompany Advent anticipation and in which every harmony seems to become a prayer in sound.
The concert will conclude with the world premiere of Piotr Pudełko’s Świadectwo for soprano, baritone, mixed choir, and organ, composed on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Upper Silesian Tragedy. This four-part work tells the story of Silesians in the aftermath of the region’s liberation by the Red Army in 1945. The soloists will be Natalia Łukaszewicz-Charabin (soprano) and Krzysztof Kmieć (baritone).
The creation of the composition was supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the “Creative Scholarships” and “Cultural Dissemination Scholarships” programs.
