The premiere of Tkanki tożsamości (Tissues of Identity), a performance about femininity, memory, and intergenerational transmission — featuring electroacoustic music by Bartłomiej Zajkowski and choreography by Liwia Bargieł-Kiełbowicz — will take place on 7 December 2025 at 6:00 PM at Warsaw’s Hashtag Lab.
How does the body remember? Do the experiences of previous generations of women become imprinted in our gestures, tensions, and ways of moving? These questions are explored by the pilot project of the new collective AfterMothers.
The project examines how emotions and beliefs passed down through generations shape female identity. It focuses on three generations of women — grandmothers, mothers, and daughters — analyzing how their perceptions of femininity, freedom, and tolerance have changed. It is a reflection on how history, living conditions, and social tensions influence the way women see themselves and their place in the world.
The performance takes the form of a choreographic poem in which the body becomes an archive of memory. Movement, breath, and gesture intertwine with Bartłomiej Zajkowski’s electroacoustic score, built from recordings of women’s voices, bodily rhythms, and noise textures.
The choreography by Liwia Bargieł-Kiełbowicz, created in collaboration with Patrycja Grzywińska and Marta Jarnuszkiewicz, merges with Jarnuszkiewicz’s visual design to create a minimalist, emotionally charged space.

A post-premiere performance followed by a meeting with the creators will take place on 8 December at 6:00 PM.
The project is co-funded by the Culture Bureau of the City of Warsaw and carried out in cooperation with Hashtag Lab, the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art, and Open Studio Komuna Warszawa.
