"Great composers – Great anniversaries" is a project of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, the idea of which is to commemorate artists and their important anniversaries falling in 2021. A screening of the film Nanerl, Mozart's sister on 28 October at Centrum Cinema, and a concert entitled Requiem in Memory of Mozart at the CKK Jordanki Concert Hall will celebrate the 230th anniversary of the death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The project includes the following anniversaries: the 280th anniversary of the death of A. Vivaldi, the 100th anniversary of the death of C. Saint-Saëns, the 50th anniversary of the death of I. Stravinsky, the 120th anniversary of the death of G. Verdi, the 230th anniversary of the death of W.A. Mozart, the 110th anniversary of the death of G. Mahler and the 100th anniversary of the death of W. Żeleński.
The next concert will be performed by the Choir of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, the Choir of the University of Sciences and Technology in Bydgoszcz, the Choir of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Adam Banaszek, and soloists: Maria Rozynek-Banaszak (soprano), Elżbieta Wróblewska (mezzo-soprano), Sylwester Smulczyński (tenor) and Grzegorz Szostak (bass). The programme will include Mozart's Requiem in D minor KV 626 and Arvo Pärt's Symphony No. 4 "Los Angeles".
The concert will be preceded by a meeting led by Andrzej Sułek which will start at 6.00 p.m. at the CKK Jordanki Concert Hall.
