The next concert of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra on 31 January 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the CKK Jordanki Concert Hall will be a real treat for the lovers of classical guitar and Beethoven. The soloist of the Friday concert will be the well-known Polish guitarist Krzysztof Pełech.
The musician will perform Concerto Antico for guitar and orchestra written by the outstanding British instrumentalist and composer Richard Harvey. The work contains elements of Alborada, Forlana and other lively dances. The second part of the concert will feature the monumental Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" in E flat major, Op. 55 by Ludwig van Beethoven, created for Napoleon Bonaparte. The Toruń Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the Lithuanian conductor Dainius Pavilionis.
The concert will begin with the Sinfonietta for strings by the Toruń composer Magdalena Cynk. It was written in 2013 for the Capella Bydgostiensis Chamber Orchestra. The work has a one-part structure, but, as Magdalena Cynk says, it is a kind of "mosaic consisting of a series of images, moods, ideas, one of which arises from the other, where one is the solution or culmination for the other."
