Toruń | Music and Space: concert on the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus' birth
This year's 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus will be celebrated with the music of Adam Wesołowski, who especially for this occasion created a piece inspired by the life and activities of the great astronomer. The premiere of the work will be performed by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dainius Pavilionis on the 19th of February, 2023 at 17.00 in the auditorium of the Nicolaus Copernicus University.
The work was commissioned by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra.
At the beginning of this interstellar musical journey, we will hear a fragment of a composition by Richard Strauss, used, among others, in Stanley Kubrick's Space Odyssey, and later Ludwig van Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, arranged by J. Kowalewski, and Planets, Op. 32 by Gustav Holst.
