Filharmonia WiłkomirskiegoA Gala Concert on the occasion of naming the Sudeten Philharmonic after Józef Wiłkomirski  will be held on 3 September 2021 at 7.00 p.m. in Wałbrzych.

After the death of the founder and long-time director of the Sudeten Philharmonic, the current director of the institution, Elżbieta Łaganowska, with the support of the President of the City, Roman Szełemej, and the Wałbrzych Council of Seniors, applied to the Marshal's Office for patronage. During the XXIII session of the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly on 29 October 2020, Resolution No. XXIII / 558/20 was adopted on the change of the name of the Sudeten Philharmonic in Wałbrzych. The resolution honours professor Józef Wiłkomirski's merits for this cultural institution. Lower Silesian councilors unanimously supported this decision.

The ceremonial naming of the Philharmonic after Józef Wiłkomirski will take place during a special concert of the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bartosz Żurakowski with the violinist Katarzyna Duda. The musicians will perform Józef Wiłkomirski's Triumphal March, Maurice Ravel's Bolero, as well as Aram Khachaturian's Lezginka from the ballet Gayane and Adagio "Spartacus and Frygia" from the 2nd ballet suite Spartacus. The concert will also feature a presentation of the new Philharmonic logotype by Marcin Sikora, a graphic designer from Wałbrzych.
